I am a professor of Digital Media in the Communication and Media Studies discipline. This means I have the best job in the world because I regularly get to teach game design and development. My favorite course to teach is a Creative Thought Direction course called Creating Games. We create card games and board games and generally have a lot of fun while learning a ton about both the creative process and iterative design.

I am also the General Education Coordinator and so spend a lot of time thinking about what is important all students at PSU to learn about. Another class that I regularly teach is Tackling a Wicked Problem which is the course that starts students on their PSU journey to practice the Habits of Mind. I am personally still working on the Habits of Mind in my own life so I really enjoy talking to students about their goals in relation to the Habits.

In my personal life, I am really into playing games. My current favorites (because I can play them online at home with friends, strangers, and AI opponents) are Settlers of Catan and Texas Hold ‘Em. I am also engaged in a daily photo challenge. My original goal was to post one photo a day for a 100 days. Today (August 13, 2020) was Day 500. I love spending time each day really looking at the world around me to see something with new eyes.
